Scenes from Sukkot 2013
From Rittenhouse Square to the Philadelphia Zoo, Jews and non-Jews gathered in public sukkahs to celebrate the harvest holiday of Sukkot.
Young professionals groups hosted a number of Sukkot events, including an outdoor cooking class and a discussion about shelter and inclusiveness on Independence Mall.
At the University of Pennsylvania, students enjoyed bagels, music and even a Hebrew class al fresco, frequenting 10 sukkahs that were set up as part of a second annual "Sukkathon" contest.
And dozens of people came out to enjoy a daylong Sukkot extravanganza at a local park in the Graduate Hospital section of the city. Hillel's Jewish Graduate Student Network organized the event, which included a music jam session, an interfaith dialog about housing and a party for toddlers.
