The Abraham family — Brian, Emily, Jodi, Jillian and Alix — participated in a benefit for Tay-Sachs research and families of those suffering from the disease. Emily coordinated the walk/run to commemorate her late brother, Mathew, who died from Tay-Sachs when he was 2 years old.

There's no finish line in sight — yet. But those who participated in the Take a Walk for Tay-Sachs (also a run) at the Lofts in Norristown raised $7,000 to go toward researching a cure and to families dealing with the deadly disease.

Emily Abraham coordinated the run/walk in conjunction with the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases foundations to honor her brother Mathew, who died of Tay-Sachs at age 2 in 1992. The entire family put on their walking shoes to take part.
