Dear Miriam,

My daughter just turned 1. Up to this point in her life, when she's needed something, we've given it to her. Now that she's becoming more communicative and, presumably, understands more about human interactions, I'm starting to think about how I can teach her to wait for things. What is the right age and approach to teach her that not everything happens now?
