Hadag Nahash Concert and Hanukkah Celebration - 8th Candle

December 4, 2013 7:30 PM-9:30 PM

A Hip-Hop Final Night of Chanukah Concert with Hadag Nahash
sponsored by PhillyIsrael & Congregation Rodeph Shalom
Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30pm (Doors open a 6:30pm)

Philadelphia, PA, October 7, 2013 - Hadag Nahash, the Israeli hip-hop/ funk band, will rock the Greater Philadelphia Community on December 4, 2013 at Congregation Rodeph Shalom. Topping the Israeli music charts for more than fifteen years, the band’s unique style of music blends hip-hop, funk, jazz, electro and rock with a touch of Middle Eastern flavor. Celebrate the final night of Chanukah and help Ahava Village in Kiryat Bialik, Israel (a center for at-risk youths) who will receive proceeds from the concert.

The name, Hadag Nahash, literally translates as “the Snakefish.” Their music mixes Western pop with Middle Eastern influences “creating a sound tapestry containing influences from funk and world music.” Hadag Nahash not only brings audiences to their feet and dancing in the aisles but also uses music to make a political statement. Their songs call for peace, tolerance and equality.

With its six successful albums to date, the group has been called “audacious and controversial.” While being compared to Philadelphia's "The Roots", Hadag Nahash has shared the stage with The Black Eyed Peas and Cypress Hill. In 2008 Hadag contributed their music to Adam Sandler's movie "You Don't Mess with The Zohan" which exposed their unique and creative sound to a vast audience worldwide. The band performs not as representatives of the government of Israel but as Israelis, individuals and musicians, conveying their own message through their own music.

Tickets: Student with ID: $15; General Admission: $35, Group of 10: tickets $30 each; VIP: $75 Includes reception with band & reserved seats for concert
