Play Ball with BZBI!

April 6, 2014 4:00 PM

Join BZBI at the National Museum of American Jewish History as we welcome special guest John Rosengren, author of Hank Greenberg: Hero of Heroes, in conversation with BZBI's #1 baseball fan... Rabbi Ira Stone, who will discuss John Rosengren's book and the Museum's new special exhibition, Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American.

Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American will be the first large-scale museum exhibition to weave together the history of American sport, leisure, and national identity with the story of Jewish immigration and integration into American life. Baseball’s legends and myths, heroes and flops, its struggles and its moments of triumph tell our national story. And for immigrants to America, baseball has long served as a path to learning and understanding American values.

John Rosengren is an award-winning journalist and author, whose books include Blades of Glory: The True Story of a Young Team Bred to Win and Hammerin’ Hank, George Almighty and the Say Hey Kid: The Year That Changed Baseball Forever. His articles have appeared inReader’s Digest and Sports Illustrated. He teaches magazine writing at the University of Minnesota.

Join us for a special talk, followed by Q&A, book signing, and private tours of the exhibition.
