Philly Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

PHILADELPHIA JEWISH SPORTS HALL OF FAME'S 17TH ANNUAL INDUCTION CEREMONY.

Former Governor and Sport's Enthusiast Ed Rendell, Sportscaster Howard Eskin, and Nonagenarian and Golfer Louise "Bobbie" Rose Among the Inductees.

The Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Adolph and Rose Levis Museum (PJSHOF) is celebrating its 17th anniversary by honoring nine new individuals at a reception to be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Gershman Y (401 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19147).

The 2014 inductees include Steven Chadwin, Howard Eskin*, Jules Love, Bobbie Rose, Michael Rose, Sara Schiffman, Steve Smoger, Leonard Tose, and Pillar of Achievement honoree, Ed Rendell.* Founders Harvey Brodsky, Sam Rabinowitz, and William Steerman will be recognized as well as inductees and Pillar of Achievement Honorees from 1997-2013. Finally, the 2013 JCC Maccabiah Games® Team Philadelphia Graduating Athletes will receive special recognition.

Tickets may be purchased for $185 via credit card by calling (215) 900-7999 or by writing to info@phillyjewishsports.org by May 13, 2014. Mail checks to the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, 401 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19147. Seating preferences will be considered. 

Al Shrier is serving as ceremony chairman; Jay Goldberg, nominating committee chair; Harriet Beloff Goodwin; décor chair; and Louis Schmidt, publication chair. Deborah P. Weiss is the director and Stephen H. Frishberg is chair of the board. This year's event will be held at the Gershman Y for the last time, as the Adolph & Rose Levis Museum is moving due to an expansion of the Y. Therefore, this year's event theme is "Remembering Our Past, Honoring our Present, and Looking To Our Future." A new Virtual Museum/website will be launched on this day as well.
