Jon Stewart Challenged to Visit Philly After Tirade About the City
A local councilman has challenged Jon Stewart to come to Philadelphia following the Jewish comedian's rant slamming the city on the May 20 episode of The Daily Show.
In the Comedy Central talk show, Stewart pokes fun at the city stemming from an initial tirade against Philadelphia Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg, who claimed he got food poisoning from a Shake Shack at the New York Met's Citi Field stadium.
The following day, Stewart apologized to Phillies' mascot the Phillie Fanatic, but apparently that was not enough for councilman Jim Kenney.
According to Philly.com, Kenney posed a resolution at a May 22 City Council meeting daring Stewart "to come to Philadephia and film a week of shows to prove how wrong he was in his May 20th tirade against Philadelphia, our people, our prized Philadelphia Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg, our affinity for running up museum stairs and calling it exercise, and our world-class cuisine. His multiple rants against our city have finally gone too far."
