Learning to make challah was frustrating but the sweet payoff has motivated me to continue baking it every week for the past six years. It's now the heart of my family’s Shabbat ritual.

When I get angry at my two sons, I don’t just lecture them. I filibuster. But if my rants were really working, why do I need to have them so often?

My family thinks my obsession with Poshmark is unhealthy. But let me tell you how I've used this iPhone app to hondle bargains on clothes that I would never be able to afford otherwise.

On Sunday I had to select my first choice dates for my oldest son's Bar Mitzvah — in 2017.  Is it really true that I have to think about this before my nine-year-old even knows the Hebrew alphabet?

My husband and I model neat behavior every day. But our boys don’t seem to notice, a blindside that enrages me because I have to repeatedly issue the same clean-up orders.

Want parenting advice? Yeah. So do I. You’ll have to go elsewhere for that. But if you want to lighten your mood while reading about someone else’s parenting issues, you've found the right blog. Read on for reflections on contemporary Jewish parenting through the eyes of a Philadelphia writer, wife and mother just looking to get a little shalom bayit.

In addition to blogging on Mother Words for the Jewish Exponent, I work as a freelance copywriter. I write brochures, annual reports, bios, advertising copy, headlines, taglines, tweets and more for hospitals, nonprofits, schools, retail stores and small businesses. Before going into marketing, I was a journalist. My articles have appeared in Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire and Philadelphia Magazine.
