Lechu Neranena will host Rabbi Dr. Martin Lockshin as a scholar-in-residence. Rabbi Lockshin is a professor at York University who received rabbinic ordination from Mercaz HaRav Kook and his Ph.D. from Brandeis University. Rabbi Lockshin’s scholarly work focuses on medieval Jewish Bible commentators, particularly the Rashbam, Rashi's grandson.
Rabbi Lockshin also serves as a halachic adviser to partnership minyanim in Toronto and in Chicago.
Rabbi Lockshin will:
- Give a d’var Torah on Friday night during Kabbalat Shabbat, which will begin at 7 p.m.
- Give d’var Torah on Shabbat morning between Shacharit and Mussaf; Shacharit will begin at 9:30 a.m.
- Give a Shiur entitled “Partnership Minyanim and Jewish Law” (see below)
On Shabbat afternoon, Lechu Neranena will host minchah at 5:30 at the home of Adam Dicker and Carolyn Hochstadter, 229 Orchard Way in Merion Station, followed by se’udah shelishit and Rabbi Lockshin's shiur. Shabbat will conclude with ma'ariv and havdalah.
