Temple Brith Achim Expands for the Future
The Powell Center for Lifelong Learning will bring 6,300 square feet of much-needed new space to the King of Prussia synagogue; in addition, about 1,200 square feet of existing space is set to be renovated.
The Powell Center will contain hallways full of classrooms, as well as storage space and a wheelchair-accessible ramp.
Leaders at Brith Achim said that they will use the new area primarily for education -- as part of the religious school for youngsters, along with additional space where programs and classes can be held for adults.
The project will cost roughly $3 million, according to past president Michael Dinney, who is serving as the building-project committee chairman.
"Our membership is growing, the number of people who attend different activities is growing, and our religious school building is not working," explained Rabbi Eric Lazar, who noted that the synagogue has 300 member families.
According to synagogue officials, the overall construction and renovation should be completed in the next 11 months.
