Searching Your Ancestors
Steve Schecter, Ed.D, will speak on “How to Search for Your Ancestors” at Temple Sholom in Broomall at a 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Hilltoppers, the senior citizen group of Temple Sholom.
Dr. Schecter, who has researched his own genealogy for more than 20 years and has documented ancestors dating back to approximately 1760, sees genealogy as more than research for names, but rather to understand their lives, their culture and how they have impacted us today. To better understand how they lived, he has visited his ancestors’ shtetls in Eastern Europe.
In addition to conducting his own searches, Steve serves as the Vice President for Programs and Projects for the Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Philadelphia. He was a key team member for the 29th International Jewish Genealogy Conference in Philadelphia and has designed and delivered many engaging workshops on Jewish Genealogy.
Dr. Schecter earned a Doctorate at Temple University and has built a consulting practice in executive coaching, project management and instructional design and delivery.
Refreshments will be served. A $2.00 donation from non-members of Hilltoppers would be appreciated.
The building is handicapped accessible. For directions and further information call Temple Sholom in Broomall.
