Sally Miller, 90, Founder of Local ORT

Sally Miller, 90, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Cynwyd, Pa., died Aug. 15.

Born in New York City, Miller moved to Philadelphia at the end of World War II.

In the 1950s, she served as the founding president of the Delaware Valley Region of Women's American ORT.

Miller returned to college in her 50s, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. She then taught English and film at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting for 10 years.

She was a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Sarasota, and a former member of Har Zion Temple, now in Penn Valley.

Miller is survived by daughter Betsy Miller; son Lawrence M. Miller; a grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Albert B. Miller.
