The Barrack and Saligman clans gathered for an event marking the official dedication of the Robert Saligman Middle School of the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy.

It's official — the Robert Saligman Middle School of the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy was dedicated and celebrated at a festive event held yesterday, Nov. 24, on the school's Main Line campus.

The school opened earlier this fall, after lengthy negotiations between officials from Barrack, which also runs a high school, and the Raymond and Ruth Perelman Jewish Day School, which formerly ran the Saligman school in Melrose Park.

Before the two-hour community event got under way, donors gathered to put up a mezuzah that students designed.

The celebration included the premeire of a video featuring students explaining their commitment to the school and how they "love where they learn," reflecting the school's new slogan. The student choir offered a medly of Chanukah tunes. And the student-administered Chesed Club invited those attending, student or not, to participate in two of their service projects: corresponding with solders in the Army as well as the Israel Defense Forces or supporting Project Night Night, which sends stuffed animals, blankets and other donated items to kids at homeless shelters.

For the grand tour, guests were offered a student-escorted visit through the building.
