RS Heritage Concert & Gala

April 27, 2013 6:00 PM

Rodeph Shalom Heritage Concert & Gala will feature the 42 piece Bay-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Copland’s "Lincoln Portrait" commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. This year we are pleased to be honoring Fred Strober & Beth Robinson for their innumerable contributions to Rodeph Shalom and to the Jewish community in Philadelphia and Israel.

The Orchestra will perform "A Lincoln Portrait" by Aaron Copland, narrated by Rabbi Kuhn in celebration of this milestone. 2013 also marks the 65th anniversary of the State of Israel and in celebration the Orchestra will perform "Jerusalem of Gold." In addition, the Orchestra will commemorate the 80th anniversary of George Gershwin’s "American in Paris" and the 95th anniversary of Irving Berlin’s "God Bless America". The historic tone of this concert seems perfect to honor Fred Strober and Beth Robinson knowing Fred’s love of history, dedication to RS, the State of Israel and his determination to ensure the continuation of a Jewish heritage for generations to come.
