This two-session course is for anyone looking for a deeper connection to the State of Israel. Participants will examine and discuss contemporary issues in Israeli society through the prism of the struggle between tradition and change. Along the way, we’ll explore music, texts, and images that bring Israel to life in some of its complexities.
Session One: Introductory workshop about Israeli symbols and a discussion about secularism and religion in Israel.
Session Two: Voices, stereotypes and political-social disputes in Israel and the role of women in Israeli society.
