Give 600 people some training, sustain them with food, arm them with pledge cards and pens, then set them loose on the banks of phones at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy.
What do you get? More than 3,000 gifts totaling well over $1 million in contributions to the 2012 Jewish Federation Annual Campaign. The men, women, teens, young adults and senior citizens who turned out on Feb. 12 for Federation's Super Sunday phone-a-thon helped to make an enormous difference in the lives of their fellow Jews in Greater Philadelphia, in Israel and in the former Soviet Union.
Event co-chairs Bryna and Fred Berman and Jennifer and Michael Willner expressed their gratitude to the individuals, families, Jewish communal organizations, vendors and sponsors who contributed to the stellar success of Super Sunday, the Jewish community's single largest day of fundraising. Their combined efforts made Feb. 12 a "Bright New Day for Our Jewish Community."
Event sponsors were A-Best Vending, Blank Rome LLP, Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, Canada Dry Delaware Valley, CSG Global, Jewish Exponent, KYW News Radio, Philip Roseneau Co., Inc., Raymond and Miriam Klein JCC, Stonehenge Advisors, Inc., and Quality Express Coffee.
