Join HIAS Pennsylvania for the launch of our 2014 fiscal year as we welcome in the new members of our Board of Directors and honor community partnerse and reflect on the past year’s achievements. This year’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 12 noon to 1:30 PM at Lindy Board Room, 2nd floor of the Jewish Community Services Building, 2100 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
The theme of this year is “Pursuing Justice,” to reflect both our community and our nation’s work to create a fair and humane system which provides a welcoming environment for immigrants and refugees in the United States.
We are proud to announce
Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez
will be joining us to give the keynote address.
Councilwoman Sanchez has been a vocal proponent of comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) and spearheaded Philadelphia's own resolution in support of CIR with Councilman Kenney. She has also written the local Land Bank Bill which calls for the creation of a fair, transparent, and accountable Land Bank in Philadelphia, a proposal HIAS Pennsylvania strongly supports as a vehicle to promote gardening projects for immigrants and refugees.
