Yom Hazikaron, the annual event commemorating Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror, will be held on Sunday, April 14, 7 p.m., at Beth Sholom Congregation, 8231 Old York Rd., in Elkins Park.
Sponsored by the Consulate General of Israel of the Mid-Atlantic Region and the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, the free program, which is open to the entire community, will include performances by: Rimon Ensemble; Shir Rozzen, an opera student at the Curtis Institute of Music; the Chavurat Hazemer choir; students from Habonim Dror; and Israel Scouts.
Hazzan Howard Glantz of Congregation Adath Jeshurun whose son, Rafi, is currently serving in the IDF, will lead a memorial prayer. The Honorable Yaron Sideman, Consul General of Israel for the Mid-Atlantic Region, will make brief remarks.
In honor of Israel’s 65th anniversary, this year’s songs and poems will reflect on Israel’s various wars since 1948.
