BERNARD “BERNIE” DUBROW, BERNIE was a graduate of South Phila. High School, June 1944. He served in the 78th infantry division in combat in Germany and in the occupation of Berlin during WWII. He won a Combat Infantry Badge. After being discharged he attended Temple University where he earned Bachelors and Master Degrees and a Comprehensive Principal’s Certificate. BERNIE taught at Barratt and Wilson Junior High Schools and Lincoln High School. He later served as Vice Principal of Gillespie Junior High School, Principal of Ludlow Elementary School and Harding Junior High School. In 1968 in recognition of his efforts, he was given the community Leadership Award from Bright Hope Baptist Church. He was also cited by the Chapel of four Chaplains for his leadership and service at Harding Junior High School. BERNIE received his Hebrew education in the Talmud Torah of Philadelphia and was a graduate of Jewish Education Center #2. He taught Hebrew studies in various congregational schools and was a member of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim since 1963 serving on various committees. He was a recipient of the Men’s Club Member of the Year Award. BERNIE and SELMA would have been married 62 years March 18.
BERNIE kvelled from his family: Daughter CHERYL and DR. STEVEN NADLER, son KENNETH DUBROW ESQ., grandfather of DAYNA and JOSH HAFETZ, DR. DAVID and CARLA NADLER, SAMANTHA DUBROW and SCOTT DUBROW, great-grandfather of CHELSEA HAFETZ and TYLER NADLER. He died February 26 and will be sadly missed.
