Comcast Spectacor chair — and No. 1 Fly-guy — Ed Snider is set to be saluted on Jan. 28, just after the strike-shortened hockey season begins play, by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association. Recognizing Snider for his communal involvement and philanthropic endeavors, the group will give out its signal Ed Snider Lifetime Distinguished Humanitarian Award at a dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, N.J.
The Beck Diet Solution, by Judith Beck, president of the nationally recognized and locally based Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, recently got a shout out and praise just in time for New Year’s and resolutions, in a Huffington Post article by Paula Davis-Laack on “The Missing Link in Your Battle to Lose Weight.”

Dr. Robert Rosenthal of the Abington School District has been named School Psychologist of the Year at the annual conference of the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania in State College, Pa.
Award-winning novelist Seymour Shubin (The Captain), with 15 books to his credit as well as numerous short stories, is now in print with Lonely No More (illustrations by Steve Hussy), a short story collection, available on Amazon.
Supper’s on for Mitch Prensky, chef/owner of the South Street restaurant Supper, just named one of Philadelphia Magazine’s “50 Best Restaurants in Philadelphia.” Its comfort food is cited for, among other traits, a combination of “thoughtful cooking and a light hand with a dose of Jewish grandma.” Also among those honored: Michael Solomonov, represented by Zahav, Federal Donuts and Percy Street BBQue; and Marc Vetri, with a chamber quartet of choices: Vetri, Osteria, Alla Spina and Amis.
Ann Schwartzman has been inducted into Temple U’s Gallery of Success, marking her achievements in social work. A grad of Temple’s School of Social Work, her record of accomplishment includes service to the Pennsylvania Prison Society.
