Honorees Janet and Gilad Gevaryahu joined Leadership Honoree Debra Speyer in being feted at the recent AMIT Philadelphia Council/Shira Chapter’s annual gala.

The Feasterville Business Association is getting down to business in the new year with a slate of officers including Theodore Hauptman, president; Larry Laiken, financial secretary; Dennis I. Marko­witz, treasurer; and directors Ray S. Greenberg, Susan Harrison and Stu Coren.

Steven Silver, a member of the class of 2013 at Temple U.’s Beasley School of Law,
is the recipient of the International Association of Gaming Advisors’ 2012 Shannon Bybee Scholarship Award, earning the honor for his paper on “The Curious Case of Convenience Casinos.”

Katie Gross, a 2008 grad of Abington Friends School, returned to AFS as guest speaker before the school’s advanced art students in the Upper School. A grad of Parsons School of Design, where she now works while pursuing an advanced degree, Gross, back in Philly as a participant in National Portfolio Day at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, advised the students on art schools’ admissions procedures.

Marc J. Sonnenfeld, a partner in litigation practice at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP as well as chief of its Securities Litigation Group/Philadelphia, has been named a 2012 Law360 Securities MVP.

They came, they praised, they sang: Close to 50 former members of Cantor Nathan Chai­tovsky’s children’s choirs sang praise for their beloved chazzan, gathering recently from all over at Temple Sinai to recreate the Shabbat service of years ago. Chaitov­sky retired as cantor in 2001, after 50 years of service to the temple. l
