Shelly and Elliot Barnathan of Havertown, and Lorre Polinger and Donald Wertlieb of Newton, Mass., announce the engagement of their children, Evan Michael Barnathan and Mollie Rebecca Wertlieb.

    Evan, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University in biochemistry and music, is a first-year medical student at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

    Mollie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in community health, and Russian and Eastern European studies from Tufts University, along with a master's degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She works in public health research and programming.

    Evan is the grandson of Irma and Louis Pretsfelder of Baltimore; and Phyllis Barnathan and the late Morris Barnathan of Los Angeles. Mollie is the granddaughter of Geraldine Polinger and the late Howard Polinger of Chevy Chase, Md.; and Helen Wertlieb and the late Norman Wertlieb of Bethesda, Md.

    Sharing in the couple's joy are their siblings: Julia and Aaron Skolnik, Marissa Barnathan, and Miriam and Josh Wertlieb.

    The couple is planning a June wedding on Martha's Vineyard.
