Diane and Alan Trachtenberg of Huntingdon Valley announce the engagement of their daughter, Carmel Jill Trachtenberg, to Jonathan Bank ("Yonni"), son of Pamela and Ilan Bank of Ramat Hasharon, Israel.
Carmel attended New York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. She holds a master's degree in applied linguistics from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel. Carmel is employed at Rapaport Group of Companies at the Israel Diamond Exchange in Ramat Gan.
Yonni, born in Israel, lived in Manhattan as a child before returning to Ramat Hasharon with his family. He graduated from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. After completing an internship at the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, he has been practicing medicine in the greater Tel Aviv area.
The couple met one another in Tel Aviv, when Yonni was in medical school and Carmel was studying as part of an overseas program at Tel Aviv University.
Carmel is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ann Slovin and the late Dr. Isadore Slovin of Wilmington, Del.; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trachtenberg of Newark, N.J. Yonni is the grandson of Mrs. Nancy Osserman and the late Dr. Elliot Osserman of Closter, N.J.; and Professor Harry and Mrs. Myra Bank of Tel Aviv.
The couple, who lives in Tel Aviv, is planning a May wedding in Shefayim, Israel.
