Drs. Patti and Alan Friedman of Philadelphia, Dr. and Mrs. Irving and Jane Herling of Haverford, and Mr. and Mrs. S. Jay and Janet Shoemaker of Wynnewood announce the marriage of their children, Jessica Rachel Herling and Eric David Shoemaker.

    The ceremony and reception took place on Dec. 31, at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia.

    Rabbi Howard Cove of Congregation Kol Emet in Yardley officiated.

    Brian Shoemaker, brother of the groom, served as best man. Erica Friedman, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor.

    The wedding party included Michael and Laurie Kott, brother-in-law and sister of the groom; Ariel Shoemaker, sister-in-law of the groom; and Lee and Scott Friedman, brothers of the bride. Brandon and Madison Herling, brothers of the bride, served as ushers.

    The ring bearers were Dylan Friedman, nephew of the bride, and Simon and Max Shoemaker, and Seth Kott, nephews of the groom. Naomi Kott, niece of the groom, served as the flower girl.

    Other members of the bridal party included Kelly Murphy Milligan, Melissa Davis Klat, Katy Zandy Atlas, Lindsay Rizzo, Matthew Perl, Amir Vardi, Grant Butler and Jason Frasco.

    The signing of the ketubah was witnessed by Matthew Perl, Grant Butler, and Kelly Murphy Milligan.

    Jessica is the granddaughter of Paul and Reba Friedman of Jenkintown; Barbara Barkon of Huntingdon Valley and the late Isadore Barkon; and Pearl and Howard Levene of Wantagh, N.Y. Eric is the grandson of Gilbert and Ruth Galpern, and Charlotte Shoemaker, all of Philadelphia; and the late Edward Shoemaker.

    After a honeymoon in southeast Asia, the couple returned to New York City, where they currently live.
