Robert and Saundra Robbins of Melrose Park announce the engagement of their daughter, Marlie Beth Robbins, to Kevin Christopher Gillen, son of Albert and Arlene Gillen of Holland, N.Y.

    Marlie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Temple University and holds a Master of Science degree in interior design from Drexel University. She works in interior design and construction management in the Philadelphia real estate market.

    Kevin holds undergraduate degrees in economics and mathematics from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and a Ph.D. in applied economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a research fellow with the Wharton real estate department and is a vice president at Econsult Corporation, through which he served as an advisor to candidate Michael Nutter on housing policy issues affecting Philadelphia.

    Marlie is the granddaughter of the late Lillian and Maurice Goldstein, and the late Esther and Rubin Robbins, all of Philadelphia. Kevin is the grandson of Clara Swiatek and the late Edward Swiatek, and the late Frank and Marguerite Gillen, all of Buffalo, N.Y.

    The couple is planning an autumn wedding in Europe.
