Judy and Jonathan Chiel of Newton, Mass., and Betsy and Alvin Katz of Reading announce the marriage of their children, Rachel Shulamit Chiel and David Eric Katz.
The wedding ceremony and reception took place on June 3 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel in Boston.
Rabbi Samuel Chiel, rabbi emeritus of Temple Emanuel in Newton, Mass., and grandfather of the bride, officiated along with Rabbi Benjamin Samuels of Newton and Rabbi Yosef Lipsker of Reading.
Bridesmaids included Jamie and Laura Chiel, sisters of the bride; Beth Anne Katz, sister of the groom; and Danielle Metson, cousin of the bride.
Bradley Abramson and Aaron Wernick served as best men. Harry Chiel, brother of the bride, was an usher.
Rabbi Samuels and Rabbi Lipsker witnessed the signing of the ketubah.
Rachel is the granddaughter of Rabbi Samuel and Janet Chiel of Newton, and Dr. Norman and Lela Jacoby of Encino, Calif. David is the grandson of Milton and Helen Hirsch of Reading, and the late Gertrude and Benjamin Katz.
Rachel graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She is an eighth-grade English teacher at the Solomon Schecter School in Newton. David graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science. He is attending Harvard Law School.
The couple lives in Cambridge, Mass.
