Carrie and Barry Jacobson of Philadelphia (formerly of Wynnewood), and Barbara and Michael Ayes of Bala Cynwyd announce the engagement of their children, Rachel Hope Jacobson and Jared Lee Ayes.

    Rachel, a graduate of Lower Merion High School, attended Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from the Temple University Beasley School of Law. Rachel is currently clerking for a federal judge.

    Jared, also a graduate of Lower Merion High School, attended the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice. He is currently the owner of a dental management group in Royersford, Pa.

    Sharing in the couple's joy are Rachel's sister, Emily, and brothers, Brad and David Jacobson.

    Joining in the celebration are Jared's brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Anna Ayes, and their daughters, Sienna and Avery; along with Jared's sister and brother-in-law, Leslee and Peter Schneider, and their sons, Jonah and Cameron.

    Rachel is the granddaughter of Sheila and Mel Schweiger, and Dottie and Ernie Jacobson. Jared is the grandson of Harriet and Jack Rubin, and William Ayes and the late Claire Ayes.

    Jared and Rachel met at Har Zion preschool 24 years ago.

    The couple, who currently lives in Philadelphia, is planning a December wedding in the city.
