Beverly and Joseph Gerber of Wynnewood announce the marriage of their daughter, Ellen Carrie, to David William Carillo, son of Michele and Anthony Carillo of Toms River, N.J.

    The ceremony and reception took place on June 23 at the Westin Philadelphia.

    Cantor Ellie Shaffer officiated.

    Betsy Gerber, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennie Marks, cousin of the bride; Celene Carillo, sister of the groom; Lisa Shammas; Laura Wolf; Jodi Schiffman; and Marni Richman. Sara Floyd, goddaughter of the groom, was the flower girl.

    Matthew Carillo, brother of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Clark Crown; Asher Marks, cousin of the bride; Peter Temple; Mathias Svalina; Brandon Som; Ryan Shriver; and Michael Bunn. Austin Floyd, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer.

    Betsy Gerber, Matthew Carillo and Celene Carillo witnessed the signing of the ketubah.

    David Goldman, future brother-in-law of the bride and groom, recited the Shehecheyanu to celebrate and mark the sanctity of the moment.

    Ellen is the granddaughter of Florence Freedman and the late Al Freedman; and Eileen Gerber and the late Benjamin Gerber. David is the grandson of Lillian Fanelli and the late William Fanelli; and the late Jean and John Carillo.

    After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple lives in Pittsburgh.

    Ellen recently earned a Ph.D. in English, and teaches writing and literature at the University of Pittsburgh. David is finishing a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction, and works as a marketing and communications specialist at Unison Administrative Services.
