Linda and Michael Avitan of Rehovot, Israel; and Shari and David Seltzer of Huntingdon Valley announce the engagement of their children, Liora Malka Avitan and Jeremy Micah Seltzer.

    Liora is a student of business and psychology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. A veteran of the Israel Defense Force, she is employed by the Masorti movement in Israel as a teacher in the Bar and Bat Mitzvah program for children with special needs.

    Jeremy is a magna cum laude graduate of Columbia University, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. He attended the Weizmann Institute of Science, and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

    Liora is the granddaughter of Dorothy and Norman Brotman of Monroe Township, N.J.; and the late Chana and Eliyahu Avitan of Eilat, Israel. Jeremy is the grandson of Gerry and Lou Seltzer of Elkins Park; and Pearl Ginsberg of Paramus, N.J., and the late Ted Ginsberg.

    Sharing in the couple's happiness are siblings Ronit Avitan, Yoni Avitan, and Matthew and Stacy Seltzer.

    The couple became engaged at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

    They are planning a December wedding in Israel and a spring 2012 reception in Philadelphia.
