Max​ M. Solomon, 86, CPA and Tax Collector

Max M. Solomon, 86, a certified public accountant and retired tax collector, died Jan. 24 at Paoli Hospital. He was a resident of Audubon.

Solomon became a tax collector for Abington Township in 1990, and retired in 2005. He was previously an auditor and a commissioner for Abington.

A graduate of Overbrook High School, Solomon worked for accounting firms while earning a degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

An Army medic in Europe during World War II, he was a past president of Old York Road Temple-Beth Am in Abington.

Solomon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Estelle Miller Solomon; son Mitchell Solomon; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Linda Rush in 1981, and brothers Mark Solomon, Abe Solomon and Michael Solomon.
