Getting their buzz on with the help of the Macca-bee (from left) are Rob Kiewe, Games director; Hope Morgan and Donna Rose of the steering committee; Dr. Mark Dannenbaum, Games chair; Bob Schwartz, also of the steering committee; and Donna Bell, Katz JCC president.

As host of the national JCC Maccabi Games this coming August, the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill kicked off its role with some help from Games mascot Macca-bee.

This is the first time the Katz JCC will host the national competition in 15 years, and is expected, according to a spokeswoman, to attract some 1,000 Jewish athletes worldwide in what is billed as the largest international sporting event for Jewish teens.

The center is also staging a special event for athletes with physical and mental disabilities.
