More than 200 people turned out Dec. 25 for the "Chanukah on Ice" event at Haverford Skatium, sponsored by Chabad of the Main Line and Chabad Lubavitch of Chester County. In addition to a lot of gliding (and a couple of falls) came the opportunity to make hand-dipped wax candles and witness the lighting of a 5-foot-tall ice menorah.

A light, freezing rain had driven nearly everyone underneath the protective awning attached to the Independence Mall Visitors Center.
