Jerome Blum, 94, Real Estate Executive

Jerome Blum, 94, a real estate executive formerly of Philadelphia, died Jan. 20. 

He graduated from West Philadelphia High School and enrolled in Drexel University for two years before entering the Navy, where he reached the rank of lieutenant. He was primarily stationed in the Philippines, and flew many missions, including those to Japanese-occupied islands, rescuing prisoners of war immediately following the surrender of Japan.

When he returned home to Philadelphia, he went into business with his brothers and father to form Mayer I. Blum and Sons. They built many apartment complexes in the Philadelphia area, including 2601 Parkway, Presidential Apts. on City Line, the School Lane House in Germantown, as well as apartment complexes around the country.

Pre-deceased by his daughter, Amy Blum Haines, he is survived by his wife, the former Harrylee Boyles; a son, Edward; a brother, Bennett; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
