Jacob Balick, 85, Longtime Attorney

Jacob Balick, 85, a longtime attorney who was active in community service, died July 18. He was a resident of Jennersville, Pa.

A graduate of Drexel University, where he served as president of the Kappa Phi Delta Fraternity, and Temple University Law School, Balick served on numerous boards in Delaware, including the Jewish Community Center and the Delaware Mental Health Association.

He was a board member and past president of the Montefiore Mutual Benefit Society and the Jewish Family Service in Delaware. He also served as attorney for the Sheriff of New Castle County and chief council for the Office of Price Stabilization of Delaware.

A member of the Delaware State Bar for 57 years, Balick retired from private practice in December 2004.

He served in the Field Artillery with the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Balick is survived by his wife, Lillian Rosen Balick; daughters Jennifer Balick and Andrea Balick Feldstein; sons Michael J. Balick, Robert H. Balick and David H. Balick; a sister, Dorie Balick; and nine grandchildren.
