International Peace Day Concert 2013

In celebration of International Peace Day on September 21st, under the UN Resolution advocating for ceasefire and nonviolence in the world, Harmony for Peace Foundation presents the International Peace Day Concert.

Come join us to play and pray for peace at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall! The occasion will include featured young artists such as: Philadelphia Boy's Choir, Villanova Supernovas A cappella, Bel Cantos' from the Anges Irwin School, YIS Japanese koto ensemble, and much more!!

We are delighted to premier our special guest of the evening, Duo Amal! Israeli Yaron Kohlberg and Palestinian Bishara Haroni are a piano duo from conflicting nations working together to spread the message of friendship beyond borders.

From Carnegie Hall to Beijing Concert Hall, Duo Amal have thrilled audiences around the globe!

The Philadelphia Independence Network, a program of JEVS Human Services is hosting a symposium – Transition to Independence:  A Model for Young Adults with Disabilities.  Join us as our expert panel addresses socialization, life style, safety and employment challenges faced by young adults with disabilities as they prepare to take on the challenges of living more independent lives.  Learn about PIN, a supported independent living community where young adults with disabilities are overcoming these challenges.  Our panel includes Dr Natan Gottesman, a licensed psychologist working with young adults with disabilities; Ryan Hammond, Executive Director of the Kinney Center at St Joseph’s University; Amy McCann, Director of Carousel Connections, a supportive summer residential environment that promotes further development of "transition-related" skills and independence; Joe Cipolla, Director of Employer Services at JEVS; Marnisha Henry, Program Director for PIN and Jake Udell, a PIN participant.   Progam Schedule: 8:00am - Registration 8:30-10:00 am - Program 10:00-10:30am - Reception and Discussion
