Helping to Take Bite Out of Hunger
Beth Alper was one of 27 volunteers from the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger who went door to door in the Northeast on June 9 to educate residents about critical food and nutrition resources. Volunteers stopped at 2,000 houses and left leaflets explaining how people can enroll in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as Food Stamps, and how they can access food pantries and relief programs. Another day of canvassing is planned in the near future.
