Minyan Sulam Yaakov at the Gershman Y

Minyan Sulam Yaakov at the Gershman Y is Center City Philadelphia's egalitarian, lay-led Shabbat morning minyan.   We meet approx. once a month for services, usually followed by a Lunch and Learn.

Visit our website for information about our next meeting.

MSY can trace its linage to two vererable Philadelphia Jewish institutions.  The Gershman Y started a resident congregation in 1927, though towards the end of the 20th century the congregation had dwindled and was in danger of extinction.  In 2000, members of the newly disbanded Center City Havurah Minyan, the area's first egalitarian lay-led minyan, joined the Gershman Y Congregation with the goal of revitalizing it and continuing the presence in Center City of a lay-led minyan.
