Foundation Backs Social Change for Women
Women of Vision, the Jewish women's foundation at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, has announced that its 2005-06 grant of $20,500 has been awarded to Jewish Family & Children's Service for "Full of Ourselves: Advancing Girl Power, Health and Leadership."
"This groundbreaking initiative will work with adolescent girls to strengthen their Jewish identity and sense of self with a goal of preventing eating disorders," explained Women of Vision Chair Donna Feinberg. "This is our first grant specifically targeted to girls."
The Women of Vision Fund, created in 1994, strives to bring about social change through annual grants to innovative programs and projects for Jewish women and girls throughout the Philadelphia region.
The group's annual fall meeting, to be sponsored by Nordstrom's, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 11:30 a.m. at The Rittenhouse Hotel. Keynote speaker will be Sara K. Gould, president and CEO of the Ms. Foundation for Women.
"Since Women of Vision's 10-year anniversary celebration and outreach last fall, the fund has had phenomenal growth," said Feinberg. "Membership grew from 150 to 220 women, and the fund's assets to date are over $875,000."
The fund offers various giving levels with a one-time, minimum gift of $2,500.
