Volunteers For Israel May Meeting

May 20, 2014 7:00 PM

The Philadelphia Region of Volunteers for Israel (VFI) will host its quarterly meeting on TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2014, from 7-9 pm at the Gratz College Library in Melrose Park, PA.

The featured guest speaker will be SSgt. (Res) Yared (Jared) Ben-Caro, former combat soldier in the IDF.  During "Operation: Cast Lead" he served in Paratrooper Battalion 890 in the Heavy Weapons & Recon Company as Lead Designated Marksman and Lead Anti-Tank Missile Specialist. He is now part of the Special Forces Reserves, Jerusalem Brigade.

Yared' s topic is "Through A Soldier's Eyes," about his personal experiences in the IDF. He is the author of the nationally-published book, Dreidel Full of LEAD: From the Wild West to the Streets of Gaza.

Born in Los Angeles, Yared immigrated to Israel from Arizona. He is the founder and director of the US-based Magnum-8 Security Services.

The public is invited to meet SSgt. Ben-Caro and VFI  alumni, and learn about VFI's unique program, which enables volunteers 17 and older to work on IDF logistics bases in Israel.  VFI Volunteers have saved Israel hundreds of thousands of manpower hours and associated costs.

Refreshments will be served.
