Travel With the Klein JCC
Musicals, special museum exhibits, a scenic paddleboat cruise and an Atlantic City excursion will all be part of the fun, learning and entertainment offered for active adults in the new “Travel With The Klein JCC” summer series which kicks off on Wednesday, July 16.
The Klein JCC summer excursion series gets underway with a trip to the Winterthur Museum and gardens in Wilmington, DE to see the costumes of Downtown Abbey, an original exhibition of some 40 costumes from the award winning television series. A narrated garden tour and home tour will be included. Price is $65 per person for members and $70 per person for the general public. Included is round-trip motor coach transportation, museum admission, tour and gratuities. Lunch is available at an additional cost in the Pavilion cafeteria.
The series continues on Wednesday, July 23 with a trip to the Bristol Riverside Theatre to enjoy a performance of The Red Hot Mammas. The delightful musical includes American standards such as Stormy Weather, On The Sunny Side Of The Street and That’s Entertainment. An optional box lunch will be available in the JCC lunchroom prior to departure. Cost is $58 per person for members and $63 per person for the general public. It includes a show ticket, air conditioned bus transportation and a gratuity.
Then on Wednesday, July 30 everyone is invited to take a scenic tour of Toms River and Barnegat Bay aboard the River Lady, an original paddleboat. Enjoy a delicious meal on a climate-controlled handicapped accessible deck during a relaxing, narrated three-hour cruise. Cost includes air conditioned motor coach transportation and gratuity plus an onboard lunch. Cost is $75 per person for members, while the general public is invited at rate of $80 per person.
The fun and learning continues when the Travel With The Klein JCC visits the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 30 to explore the Chasing Dreams-Baseball and Becoming American” exhibit. Learn about American Jews and other minorities and how they served as athletic, cultural and ethical role models in America. The price includes admission and docent-led tour, kosher box lunch, air conditioned bus transport and gratuity. Cost is $50 per person for members and $65 to the general public.
In addition, the summer travel series will spend an enjoyable day in Atlantic City, NJ on Wednesday, August 13 with a trip to Resorts Casino. This offers a chance to stroll the boardwalk, try your luck with $10 in slots dollars and take in the show, The Cats Pajamas-Vocal Band, a five guy acappella group who have been touring the world since 2005. Price is $22 per person for members, $27 per person for the public and includes luxury motor coach transportation, slots dollars, show ticket and gratuity.
The series concludes with an excursion to the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia to see the musical, The Book Of Mormon on Sunday, September 7. From the creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the show won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The New York Times calls it the “best musical of the century” and Entertainment Weekly says its “the funniest musical of all time.” Price includes a show ticket with orchestra seating, air conditioned bus transport to and from the theatre and a gratuity. Cost is $175 per person for members and $185 per person for the general public.
