Open House

June 14, 2014 10:00 AM-1:00 PM

After leaving high school, many students look for jobs to enter the workforce and start making money. Others spend the summer getting ready to leave the nest and go to school away from home. On the other hand, there’s the local community college path. Another alternative is attending a technical, or “career” school to gain practical training, become qualified for a new career, and gain greater opportunities in a specific profession.

At Orleans Technical Institute, operated by JEVS Human Services, students spend time learning the “real-world” skills needed to begin a career in the building trades industry. Graduating seniors who want to continue their education this fall are invited to Orleans Technical Institute’s open house. Visitors can learn about hands-on career training programs in air conditioning, heating, carpentry, electrical, plumbing or building maintenance. Students in these programs gain the technical skills that employers are looking for in as little as six months. Upon graduation, Orleans’ employment specialists work with each student to connect them with employers throughout the area who are currently looking to fill open positions with skilled tradespeople.

Orleans Tech’s open house visitors will have the opportunity to tour the school, get financial aid details and step-by-step admissions information, meet industry-experienced instructors, and learn about job search assistance. To register for the open house, go to www.orleanstech.edu/register or call 215-728-4700.
