Jewish Responses to People with Disabilities
March 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Many of us have seen big changes in social attitudes about people with disabilities and especially people with intellectual disabilities. Are there any modern lessons to be found in our Scriptures? What can the ‘temporarily abled’ (most of us) learn from our friends and family members with disabilities?
Sponsored by the GJC Women’s Club, and presented by Larry Berger, Senior Counsel, SHEPHERD, FINKELMAN, MILLER & SHAH, LLP, with GJC member David Ferleger.
Larry is an attorney who represents people with disabilities in claims under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
David is an attorney who has litigated many important cases relating to the rights of people with disabilities to live in the community. He has argued in the Supreme Court of the United States five times and participated in other Supreme Court litigation. His book, Disability Justice, examines future developments in the field. David has served various federal courts as a special master, court monitor and technical advisor.
Reservations requested: please contact the GJC office. This program is in GJC’s Temin Canteen Room, which is an accessible space.
