In light of the crisis in Israel, and the need for young adults to get first-hand information, an Israel Solidarity Weekend has been upgraded from what was originally set for the 27th Annual Pocono Rafting Leadership planned for August 15-17th in the Poconos, for East Coast Jewish post-college age young professionals.

Added to the initial schedule of Keynote IDF motivational speaker Izzy Ezagui, who lost an arm while serving near Gaza in the IDF, hs a host of other Israeli Experts, including:

  •  Joseph Puder, Israeli born journalist, Middle East Analyst, Columnist for FrontPage on-line magazine, and Philadelphia area Director for Stand with Us.

Speaking by Skype or Conference call:

  • Gil Hoffman – Chief Political Correspondent/Analyst, Jerusalem Post
  • Tal Brody – Good Will Ambassador - State of Israel, and Israeli Sports Icon for his statement … Israel is “... on the map and we are here to stay, not only in sports but in everything.”
  • Amos Guira – International Law and Counter-Terrorism expert, University of Utah, and former JAG for the Gaza District, IDF
  • Aryeh Green – Director of MediaCentral, providing support services to foreign journalists based in or visiting Israel, and former advisor to Natan Sharansky.

Prior to the Sunday morning Keynote address of Izzy Ezagui, representatives of various national and local Jewish organizations will be presenting their services as part of "SPEED DATING with JEWISH ORGANIZATIONS."

Hosted by the Lehigh Valley Jewish Federation, and taking place at the Allentown JCC, organizational representatives will give a short "elevator speech" about their organizations, then form an interactive "inner circle" while young professionals learn about their organizations, and perhaps become future leadership.

Current organizations confirmed as supporting this effort are:

  • AEPi
  • Birthright Next
  • B'nai B'rith International
  • Gratz College
  • Hasbara Fellowships
  • Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley
  • Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties (Vineland, NJ)
  • World Zionist Organization

This is an incomplete list. Other Jewish organizations are invited and welcome to participate.

Young adults will also participate in an interactive friendship building experience of RAFTING down the Lehigh River, enjoy Pool parties, a Comedy Club, Mixers, Volleyball pick-up games, a “Lox & Bagel” brunch, and discussions on Jewish identity and Israel.

Following the official end of the program on Sunday early afternoon, they will have the option of enjoying DORNEY PARK amusement park, & the water rides at Wildwater Kingdom
