HaRav Meshullam Zalman Hiyya ben Hayyah Gittel v'Shlomo HaKohen

August 28, 1924 - July 3, 2014 (5 Tammuz 5774)

Reb Zalman was the visionary founder of Jewish Renewal, a spiritual revolutionary who infused Judaism with a new, creative vitality and contemplative depth. Responsible for the revival of a Judaism that is meaningful on all levels - body, heart, mind, soul and earth - his expansive mind continually pushed the margins of spiritual growth using the languages of technology and ecology.

Each of us who has been touched by Reb Zalman carries our own memories, our own stories, our own holy sparks. For this Shloshim Gathering (observance of the end of the thirty-day period following his death), we invite you to come and share your rebbe stories – whether you knew him personally, or learned from his writings or recordings, or were influenced in any other way by him through his paradigm-shifting work over the years. Come taste this holy rebbe’s profound teachings and experience the deeply inspiring melodies and chants of Jewish Renewal. As befits a Reb Zalman memorial, all communities are welcome and invited!

May Reb Zalman’s precious light illuminate our world for a long, long time, and may we, collectively, continue his mission of rousing and lifting up souls.
