“1928: Rodeph Shalom and the Architecture of Modern Philadelphia” with Michael Hauptman, RS President and Architect

The 1920s was a period of dynamic growth for Philadelphia. This presentation explores the architectural context in which Rodeph Shalom was built — from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the PSFS Building –- and where the design of RS falls in the transition from turn-of-the-century Beaux Arts Classicism to mid-century Modernism.
