Evelyn Witkin, 59, One of First Female Orthopedic Surgeons in the State
A pioneer in her field, Witkin was one of the first women orthopedic surgeons in Pennsylvania. She received multiple honors, including being inducted into the Wall of Fame of Northeast High School.
A graduate of Temple University and its medical school, Witkin did her residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Shriner's Hospital. She was also on staff at many hospitals.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she was an avid supporter of Israel and many Jewish organizations.
Witkin is survived by her husband, Dr. Arnold N. Witkin; mother Edith Davis; daughters Dr. Amy M. Witkin and Dr. Lisa R. Witkin; sister Janette Margolis; and a granddaughter. She was the daughter of the late Bernard Davis.
