Evelyn Goldberg, 89, Volunteer for Women and Children

Evelyn Goldberg, 89, a volunteer who was active in the Jewish community, died April 23 in Boynton Beach, Fla. She was a resident of Phoenixville for many years.

A former member of the B'nai Jacob Women's Auxiliary, Goldberg's efforts and activities earned her "Woman of the Year." She was a member of Hadassah, a life member and president of Kadimah Hadassah in King of Prussia and served as chairperson of State of Israel Bonds.

She also supported the Phoenixville Hospital as a volunteer worker in the canteen.

Goldberg was a member of the Sylvania Link in Philadelphia and then a charter member of the Main Line Link, a women's Masonic organization in support of summer camp for underprivileged children. She also participated as a chair of the group.

In addition, she was a member of Beth Elohim in Wynnewood during the time of Rabbi Theodore Gordon, and was a member of the White Manor Country Club in Malvern.

Goldberg is survived by her husband, Harold A. Goldberg; son Elliott Goldberg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
