Doris Sostmann, 94, Interior Designer

Doris Levy Brenner Sostmann, 94, an interior designer who was a leader in women's charitable organizations, died Dec. 11 at Lankenau Hospital. She was a longtime resident of Wynnewood.

Born in Norfolk, Va., Sostmann took courses at night and on-the-job training by day to enter the interior design profession. Her firm, Doris Brenner Interiors, became the decorating arm for a number of area homebuilders, and she was a stalwart at the annual Philadelphia Home Show.

Sostmann directed War Bond drives and held positions with the U.S. Signal Corps, retail store management in local suburbs, and the management of Brenner Wallpapers in Bala Cynwyd, Pa.

She was a member of White Manor Country Club.

Sostmann is survived by daughter Ann Brenner Ritt; son Joseph Reyner Brenner; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of Aaron Morris Brenner and Jerome Sostmann, both of whom predeceased her.
