Double your pleasure during Federation's Jewish Heritage Night on Aug. 18.

Bring a canned good to Citizens' Bank Park on Thursday, Aug. 18 -- Federation's Jewish Heritage Night at the Philadelphia Phillies and help kick off Federation's Mitzvah Food Project High Holiday Food Drive.

Federation is the presenting sponsor of this special evening of baseball, food and fun -- and this night will be even more meaningful if we share it with our fellow Jews who are hungry. We will be collecting cans of fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, soup, tuna, salmon and/or sardines. Low salt, low sugar and kosher items would be especially appreciated to accommodate special diets.

Participating in this mitzvah is easy and satisfying. First, purchase affordable tickets to this 7:05 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on www.jewishphilly.org. Then, enter the park at either the first or third gates and drop off your donations in the Mitzvah Food Project boxes at our Federation kiosks.

Your food donations to the Mitzvah Food Project High Holiday Drive will help support local households in need of nutritious food for months at MFP's six pantry sites. With strong community support last year, over 41,000 pounds of food was collected, which supplemented food orders for 3 to 4 months.

Let's make Jewish Heritage Night a grand slam event. Celebrate great baseball, support the Mitzvah Food Project and feel good about the fact that proceeds from all tickets purchased through www.jewishphilly.org help to support important programs and initiatives here in Greater Philadelphia, in Israel and in the former Soviet Union.

Federation is grateful for the support of its sponsors, Blank Rome LLP and the Jewish Exponent.
