Mitchell Emanuel Panzer, 88, a prominent attorney, died Jan. 4. He was a resident of Merion.
Panzer graduated with honors from Temple University and earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
A partner in the law firm of Wolf, Block, Shorr and Solis-Cohen, he held numerous leadership positions with the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and the Jewish Publication Society. He was also of counsel to several savings-and-loan associations.
Panzer was a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations, as well as the 21 Jewel Square Club and the Free & Accepted Masons.
A recipient of the "Man of the Year" award from the Gratz College Alumni Association, he served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was honored with a decorated Bronze Star and a medal for military merit.
Panzer is survived by his wife, Edith Budin Panzer; daughters Marcy Panzer-Pokotilow and Leslie Katz; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
